In the first big move of the offseason, the Florida Marlins traded second baseman Dan Uggla to the Atlanta Braves for super-utility man Omar Infante and relief pitcher Michael Dunn.

Uggla hit .261/.369/.508 this season with career highs in home runs (33) and runs batted in (105).  Over his first five full seasons at the big-league level, he's slugged at least 25 homers in each season.  He joins the Braves with one-year left on his current contract after failing to negotiate a new four-year deal with the Marlins earlier in the month.  Although the Braves used Martin Prado at second base most of the season, his depth allows Atlanta to shift him to left field or third base while Uggla remains at second.

The Marlins, who have already acquired four relievers this week, acquire another bullpen arm in Dunn for their already much improved bullpen. Dunn, a hard throwing lefty, posted 27 strikeouts over 19 innings for Atlanta while splitting time between Triple-A and the Braves.  While Omar Infante was named to the National League All Star team this season, he's certainly not you everyday starter, unless that team in the Florida Marlins. Infante like Prado is a super-utility player who can play multiple positions, but figures to play mostly second and third for the Marlins.

As if relates to fantasy baseball, Uggla's value was already high entering this season given the success he had last season.  He's always been a power threat, but is still a career .263/.349/.488 hitter.  Fantasy owners should continue to see his power numbers around the ~30 HR mark, but the batting average will likely see a decease from his .287 that he posted last season.  I figure the Braves can use Uggla as power-guy that will compliment the current lineup nicely.
