Grinding Metal examines potential waiver wire additions that can assist your team during the fantasy baseball season. From home runs to pitching wins, Grinding Metal has you covered.
Joc Pederson, OF, San Francisco Giants
Despite playing a platoon role to start the new season, Pederson could be starting to see regular playing time - especially against a schedule this week with plenty of right handed pitchers. This week, the Giants will face the Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics & Washington Nationals. The 30 year old has a 1.133 OPS this season and could be produce a big week of home runs thanks to an easy schedule. The outfielder is currently owned in less than 40% of leagues.
Eric Lauer, SP, Milwaukee Brewers
After striking out 13 hitters last week, Lauer will be a hot item in leagues. Since June 27 2021, Lauer has a 2.23 ERA with 99 strikeouts in 97 innings pitched. This season, the lefty has a 2.20 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 16.1 innings. He's also recorded back-to-back quality starts. He's owned in less than 30% of fantasy leagues and his next scheduled start is against the Chicago Cubs on April 30th.
Cristian Javier, P, Houston Astros
The Astros announced that they will shift to a six man rotation starting this week, bumping Javier into the rotation. The right handed pitcher has been a long reliever this season, posting 12 strikeouts over 8.1 innings. However, he'll be starting next time he takes the mound. Cristian Javier is owned in 62% of leagues, so you have to move fast if you want to add them. His next start comes this Wednesday April 27th against the Texas Rangers.
