Grinding Metal examines potential waiver wire additions that can assist your team during the fantasy baseball season. From home runs to pitching saves, Grinding Metal has you covered.
James McCann, C, New York Mets
The catching position in fantasy baseball in a wasteland, but when you find someone who finally produces - they are likely worth an immediate addition. McCann over his last ten games is hitting .333/.368/.750 with four home runs and 11 RBI. Amazingly, despite the injuries that have hit the Mets, the team is still in first place, and McCann is hitting in the middle of the lineup.
J.P. Feyereisen, RP, Tampa Bay Rays
Since being acquired by the Rays, Feyereisen has found himself as the main relief pitcher for the 9th inning. All four appearances have been save opportunities, with Feyereisen converting three of four opportunities. He has a 1.29 ERA and a 7:2 K:BB ratio since joining the Rays. He should be owned in all fantasy leagues.
Ke 'Bryan Hayes, 3B, Pittsburgh Pirates
Hayes is likely owned in your league, but if not, be sure to pick them up. Hayes returned this week from the 60-day-IL with a wrist injury. Although he's returned, owners should keep an eye on the power numbers, as wrist injuries can limit power production., However, Hayes is still worth owning, as he figures to play third base every day, while hitting second in the lineup for the Buccos.
