Grinding Metal examines potential waiver wire additions that can assist your team during the fantasy baseball season. From home runs to pitching wins, Grinding Metal has you covered.
Tommy Edman, INF/OF, St. Louis Cardinals
Besides having multiple position eligibility across the diamond, Edman is hitting .300/.317/.575 with six extra base hits and two stolen bases since August 28. Depending on the matchup, Edman will sometimes bat leadoff for the Cardinals, increasing his likelihood of scoring runs.
Tyler Glasnow, SP, Tampa Bay Rays
After missing significant time with a forearm strain, Glasnow returned to action this weekend, and is expected to act as an "opener". The Rays will take it easy with Glasnow early on, but the hard throwing righty has shown that he's capable of racking up strikeouts.
Kevin Newman, SS, Pittsburgh Pirates
The 26-year-old infielder has quietly put up a solid season thus far, slashing .313/.359/.446 with 14 stolen bases and 10 home runs. In 31 games since August 1, he has a .375 OBP with 23 runs scored. He's a nice pick up for some quick production.
