Grinding Metal examines potential waiver wire additions that can assist your team during the fantasy baseball season. From home runs to pitching wins, Grinding Metal has you covered.
Lance Lynn, SP, Texas Rangers
Lynn will see two starts this week, the first coming against the Cleveland Indians and the second coming against the Chicago White Sox. Both teams struggle overall, so Lynn is definitely worth a pickup in most leagues. On the season, he has 93 strikeouts in 86 innings pitched. He's pitched at least six innings in every start since April 28, posting a 3.39 ERA during the same time frame.
Yordan Alvarez, OF, Houston Astros
Alvarez continues to roll on during his brief MLB career, as he is now posting a .381/.519/.952 triple-slash line in just 7 big-league games. Although primarily used as a DH upon his promotion, he should see some time in the outfield this week, especially with Houston playing Cincinnati in inter-league play. He's owned in close to 50% of leagues, but if he's still available in your league, be sure to give him a shot and ride the hot bat.
Hansel Robles, RP, Los Angeles Angels
The right-handed reliever has converted 10 of 12 save opportunities, while posting a 3.24 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. With Cody Allen being designated for assignment over the weekend, Robles appears to be the favorite moving forward for all save opportunities.
Garrett Cooper, 1B/OF, Miami Marlins
With under 25% ownership and a .306/.384/.488 slash-line, Cooper, 28, makes for an intriguing addition to teams. After starting the season on the injured list with a strained calf and a slow start, the big, power bat of Cooper is starting to come around. Most recently, he's slugged three home runs with nine RBI during the month of June.
