In this edition of 2019 Fantasy Boom, we take a look at first baseman Matt Olson of the Oakland Athletics.

Only two other first basemen in the American League had more home runs than Olson in 2018 - Edwin Encarnacion and C.J. Cron. Olson, entering his year 25 season, will look to build on his .247/.335/.453, 29 home run slash line.

In most leagues, Olson was likely used as corner infielder or utility player last season, but with his continued power numbers, Olson has a real shot at being a top-10 fantasy firstbaseman with 30 home runs in 2019.

Olson didn't follow up his superb debut from 2017 in 2018, but his strikeout percentage dipped from 27.8% to 24.7% - while his walk percentage maintained above 10%. Hitting in the lineup surrounded by Khris Davis and Matt Chapman will continue to help Olson increase his production numbers moving forward.

The first basemen fantasy tier is really a a personal choice after Freddie Freeman and Paul Goldschmidt are off the board, but feel confident drafting Matt Olson as your every day first baseman.
