Clinical Notes: Curtis Granderson Breaks Forearm
Sunday February 24th, 2013

The Yankees will be without Curtis Granderson for 10 weeks. (US Presswire)
Granderson, 31, hit 43 home runs for the Yankees in 2012, while posting a .319 on-base percentage and a .811 OPS. In three years with the Bombers, Granderson's triple-slash line is .247/.337/.506 with 108 home runs, 47 stolen bases, and a .843 OPS.
The time of the injury is awful news for the Yankees, as they are currently dealing with injuries to lineup regulars Alex Rodriguez
and Derek Jeter. However, he could possibly return in 6-to-8 weeks, but in all likelihood, you can expect Granderson to be out at least the entire month of April, returning sometime in early May.
For the Yankees outfield, the experiment with Brett Gardner
in center field is no longer an experiment, it's a sure thing moving forward. With right field occupied by Ichiro Suzuki, the Yankees have a hole in left field with current in camp replacements of Juan Rivera
and Matt Diaz.
Here's a possible lineup that the Yankees could use on Opening Day in 2013. Assuming Jeter is ready to go - if not, you could see Brett Gardner near the top of the order.
From a fantasy standpoint, I ran the updated numbers on projections and Granderon's numbers slightly decrease, but decrease enough to knock him down to the fourth tier of outfielders heading into draft day. Although he's likely out for just a month, it's always tricky to judge how hand, wrist, and arm injuries will affect a player's power numbers. Considering a high majority of his value comes from home runs (just a career .341 OBP) - his value in your league may not be that high in 2013.
