After an impressive little league career (2 hits in 3 years -- that's a .667 avg, right?), I decided to try my hand at computers, and found myself much more successful -- remember Hardball Baseball on the Apple ][. And while my role here at BP is design, development and administration (this ain't no blog or wordpress cookie cutter website), I'm a 4th generation citizen of Red Sox Nation and now I find myself happily partnering with a pinstripe wearing, evil empire worshipping, Yankee fan, creating BaseballPress.com from the ground up -- I've been considering therapy for the internal conflict this creates -- but I sacrifice my sanity (not to mention many, many hours of "free" time) for you, the reader. Enjoy!

I learned the game of baseball from my father, who had in turned learned the game from DiMaggio, Mantle, and Rizzuto. Growing up, I’ve always been consumed by baseball as I was either playing or working for teams. While I’m a fan of many sports, the winter seems to go a little slower without baseball. I’ve been playing and writing about fantasy baseball for over 8 years. If I’ve learned anything while creating BaseballPress.com, it’s this; Red Sox fans are o.k. people even if they root for the cursed team that hails from Fenway Park.

My love of baseball was ingrained in me by my father Rick, who showed me how to score games and read box scores at a young age, all the while rooting for the likes of Robin Yount, Jeff Cirillo, and Geoff Jenkins. I kept baseball as a casual interest until attending USC from 2000-2004, when I starting digging deep into fantasy baseball. Reading Moneyball was a transformation for me and I really got into seeing the game beyond the game. When I’m not obsessing about baseball, I’m hitting the best beer bars and festivals in the Los Angeles area, working my day job as an archives administrator for a publishing company, or reading (and writing) the great American novel. I also spend a lot of time talking baseball on Twitter; check me out @danport

The tenacity of a patient team, the dream to believe, Terry Pendleton, David Justice, Sid Bream and a four pitch walk, Francisco Cabrera, line drive, left field! When Sid Bream slid across home plate, a passion was born, again. Engrossed in fantasy baseball for 10 years, I am eager to write for BaseballPress.com sharing my thoughts and opinions. I am an aficionado of the minor leagues and prospects, repeatedly going over stats, tracking the next best players. Coaching little league t-ball, photography, and time with family is how I spend my time when I am not working at my day job as a rehabilitation therapist. Oh and I love a Moe's Southwest Grille chicken and black bean quesadilla.

I grew up in Michigan watching the Tigers and following the Yankees - not because they were the best team, but because my Dad is from New York. It wasn't until I was much older that I realized it was ridiculous to root for two teams in the same division. Thankfully, this problem was alleviated in 1998 when the Tigers relocated the AL Central. Fantasy sports took my baseball love to the next level about 5 years ago when I discovered statistical analysis through Baseball Prospectus, Bill James, and Moneyball. It also helped that I finally started winning championships after 10 years of failure.

I'm a recent college graduate from Staten Island, I am a die hard New York Yankees fan, I love everything about the game of baseball, and am not ashamed to admit my unconditional love for Derek Jeter. Unlike most people, I picked up my passion for the game and the Yankees from my mother, who played baseball when she was younger. I have been around the game my entire life since I was 4, playing and coaching while still playing today. Perhaps the only thing I have to complain about with baseball is that city up the I-95, Boston, but this years title has eased my hate by quieting Sawx Nation for a winter. I've played fantasy baseball for 7 years, and am not afraid to call myself the Cashman of fantasy sports (I drafted Webb early last season so there's my Pavano). My other love is Fresh Tortillas, a Mexican restaurant operated by Asians, just amazing.

My baseball passion was born when I was about 8. I was watching a goofy looking guy in thick bottle-lens glasses (turned out to be Orel Hershiser) pitch to this skinny guy with a dramatic leg kick (Darryl Strawberry) when he launched a pitch over the right field wall. I was amazed by the power and I've been hooked ever since. I have a love/hate relationship (more love) with my hometown Kansas City Royals, which is probably why I look for solace in fantasy baseball. Zack Grienke's Cy Young last year, however, has re-energized my spirit and I'm now more than ever looking at the positives in my boys in blue.

Well growing up, going to college and still residing in Central Illinois I have forever been on the border of Cub and Cardinal country, so with the drought of successful seasons for most of my life I have bled a lot of Cubby Blue. I got serious into Fantasy Baseball about 7 years ago after dabbling in some point leagues while at college. A local NL-Only League opened up my eyes - and wallet - to how much time and money you can spend on something and still enjoy it even if you are not always successful. Now I play in just about all formats, including a local area Quint-Inning league, but still put most of my time into my original love - the NL-Only Auction. Along with baseball I spend a lot of time outside in the summer - a nice perk of being in education - with my daughter and wife running, riding bikes and gardening.

I started collecting baseball cards at 5 years old, and have loved the sport ever since. Sometime around 1989 when I was in 9th grade, I first heard about fantasy baseball. I tried to put a league together and tally all the stats by hand from the box scores in the paper. That lasted about 4 days, but it was still the start of an obsession. I have been playing fantasy leagues regularly since 1999. I play in about 20 leagues, including my favorite, the NFBC. I have always been an Indians fan, I especially loved the mid ‘90’s teams when we came so close to winning it all. I currently live in Auburn, Alabama with my wife and 2 kids.
